DrProject 1.1 Screencast

August 14, 2006 – 8:59 pm

A screencast highlighting some of the features of the next release of DrProject is now available. There wasn’t room to include the nifty web-based administration features that Greg Lapouchnian built as his Google Summer of Code project, but they’ll be covered in a separate ‘cast Real Soon. It’s lookin’ pretty cool…

  1. One Response to “DrProject 1.1 Screencast”

  2. Hello,
Just watched the screencast and I have to admit it is a very nifty tool. The ability to link different areas of a project is one of its best features. I apologize if the project members are already aware of some of my comments, I promise I will install this as soon as I have a bit more time.
A few notes just from watching the presentation:
    - tags:
    – ajax may be useful for entering tags as the tag cloud displayed different tags that referred to the same thing, eg. gui vs Gui. another option is soundex or some other variant
    – i’m not colour blind but i found the colour gradient very difficult to discern, maybe a ranked distinct colour system would be more ideal? eg. red - only this project, blue - some projects, green - many projects.
    - wiki:
    – when entering the ticket number, i wouldn’t want to have to remember the number, is there a way to have a css popup log for different areas? eg. tickets, wikipages, bugs.
    - the milestone area looks kinda empty, would it be desireable to have graphical views of ticket assignments?

Having taken 407 and been taught lots about REST (I actually lost sleep over the performance question, that was a good one!), does each project area have a REST interface so that with each additional component, it can be linked easily into the wiki via paths? eg. have a graphical handler for tickets/bugs/whathaveyou.
    Take care.
