Please Pay For Your Copy of “Beautiful Code”…
July 30, 2008 – 2:23 pm…rather than downloading it from a file-sharing site. Royalties go to Amnesty International, who help people like this:
A teacher who posted photos of collapsed schools on the internet after a devastating earthquake in China’s Sichuan province has been ordered to serve a year of “re-education through labour”.

For some reason I can’t read e-books. There’s something about dead tree format that makes it much easier to follow so I always buy books instead of downloading them.
Maybe it’s because infinite distractions aren’t just an alt+tab away…

I find it difficult and uncomfortable to hold up a book while lying down on the couch. A paperback requires force to keep it open. A textbook is just heavy. Holding up a laptop in that position, by comparison, is easy for me. (I like to watch videos on my laptop that way. Reading books like that… maybe, maybe not.)
