So, Does Anyone Know Any Police Officers in Toronto?

This post from Jon Udell, coupled with an undergraduate project Danny Heap is supervising that’s building a visualization of Toronto real estate market data, has got me thinking.  If anyone knows any Toronto-area cops who’d be interested in visualizing GTA crime data, I’d be grateful for an introduction…

  2. I’ve been attending GIS conferences since the 80s and we used to regularly see the OPP and Metro cops attending. They stopped attending the general GIS sessions, (I think in favour of more focused sessions relevant to their own particular problems). They share a problem with public works and that is getting geoferenced field data from front line staff. Geocoding data isn’t directly in line with staff primary duties and georeferencing data from municipal address (911) has it’s own problems.
You could drop Alex Miller or John Houwelling of ESRI Canada a line to try and get a line directly into the GIS department of Metro.
